One of our favorite things to do at the shop is sharing our weekly pull lists and must reads with one another. It’s one of the best ways we’ve been finding new things to read or even reasons to return to old favorites. We thought it would be fun to start sharing our weekly picks of books we’re most excited about. Our hope is that in sharing our excitement you might discover something new to add to your list. Check back weekly on Tuesday evenings for lists from John, Chandler and Jason & Jake. Each has a different background and perspective to share.

1. Nightwing #78

Ever since Infinite Frontier DC has had a buffet of great titles and great opportunities for people to jump in without being hopelessly confused. This is another instance of a new creative team making it an easy place to dive in. Tom Taylor has already been doing amazing things for DC with Injustice and DCeased and now takes his talents to the bat family. Bludhaven has a new mayor and his name is Zucco. You know… the same name of the man who murdered Nightwing’s parents. I am very excited for this book and to see what Tom Taylor has in store for Dick Grayson.

2. Radiant Black #2

This series looks really fun. Image made a bold claim that the next big superhero is here and I’d have to agree. The first issue gave us a lot of great story and just enough mystery and intrigue to keep you back for more. Our hero has now discovered that he is not the only one in this new suit and not everyone might be using it to help others. Kyle Higgins has something here and I’m sticking along for the ride.

3. Superman Red and Blue #1

Both Marvel and DC have been hitting homeruns with their color anthology series. Both Batman: Black & White and Wolverine: Black, White, and Blood have been awesome reads. So another anthology series about another great character definitely has me on board. This first issue has 5 great stories from John Ridley, Dan Watters and Marguerite

Bennett to name a few. It also includes a fantastic Gary Frank cover. Let’s hope this trend continues to impress!

1. King In Black Spider-Man #1

While it seems every one else has gotten a KIB crossover title we’re surprised it’s taken this long to get a current Spider-Man tie in. We need our King In Black fix this week! Looking forward to seeing how Peter is dealing with all of this. g in

2. Thor #13

Donnie Cates is bringing Odin back! Our only disappointment with this series is the timing from King In Black got messed up with Covid delays etc. We know Thor comes out swinging eventually in KIB, can’t wait to find out how we get there.

1. Nightwing #78

A new starting point for Dick Grayson after his foggy time as Ric Grayson. The bat family is still trying to fix things after the joker war and we get to see nightwing back in his element once again. Phenomenal writer Tom Taylor is delivering an amazing story for us and I’m excited to see what he comes up with.

Justice League #59

Hot off the wheels with joker war, joker is back at it with a new joker attack yet it doesn’t seem like it’s the usual plan. Tying into the Batman, suicide squad and other infinite frontier stories, Jim Gordon might finally be the last piece of the puzzle to get into jokers mind.

3. King In Black Spider-Man #1

We are finally getting a tie in for the character that’s started this debacle in the pages of secret war! Take a look at the mess of New York through the narration of Peter Parker where he deals with his own problems and limits as a friendly, neighbourhood Hero. This story perfectly captures the importance of Spider-Man to his fellow heroes!
