One of our favorite things to do at the shop is sharing our weekly pull lists and must reads with one another. It’s one of the best ways we’ve been finding new things to read or even reasons to return to old favorites. We thought it would be fun to start sharing our weekly picks of books we’re most excited about. Our hope is that in sharing our excitement you might discover something new to add to your list. Check back weekly on Tuesday evenings for lists from John, Chandler and Jason & Jake. Each has a different background and perspective to share.

1. Harley Quinn #1

Despite being a light week, there’s an abundance of quality books that are lining the new release wall this Wednesday. One of the most anticipated books on Infinite Frontier’s schedule for me was this one by rising star Stephanie Phillips. Harley is trying to make amends for the sins of her past by helping Gotham City recover from the devastating events of Joker War. Will Gotham be excited about Joker’s former right hand woman returning to the city, though?

2. Vietnam Horror #1

Behemoth Comics has been putting out some phenomenal pieces of fiction under the radar of most comic book fans. In this one, a group of soldiers on reconnaissance are drawn to a mountain by strange movements and songs. Are they prepared for what they discover within its rocky confines?

3. Teen Titans Academy #1

From the events of Future State, we know that what happens in this title will greatly affect the course of the DC Universe for years to come. Plus, we are treated to the foundation of who the mysterious Red X is going to be. If you missed the Future State Teen Titans series, the collected edition is released this week. If you care about the DCU in the slightest way, this is the series you need to read.

1. Teen Titans Academy #1

This is one of the books I have been waiting for since Infinite Frontier was first announced. I am a big fan of the original 2000’s Teen Titans tv show so it is dream come true seeing Red X finally in the comics. This book also has the original 5 from the show (Dick Grayson, Starfire, Beast Boy, Cyborg, and Raven) coming back as teachers for a new generation of titans. But the big question is… who is Red X?!

2. Carnage Black White & Blood #1

Like I said last week both of the big 2 have been putting out great color focused anthology books and now we have Carnage. This looks to be a very mature violent series as Carnage was always intended. There is some great talent attached to this book (Al Ewing and Tini Howard just to name a few!). There are also some awesome variants that you are going to want to pick up. Let there be Carnage!

3. Alien #1

I’m staying in that horror element this week apparently. I am a big fan of the original few movies so I hope this series written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Last God) will stay true to that. I have high hope’s for this book and there are also a lot of gorgeous variants to sweeten the pot. Remember in space no one can hear you scream!

1. Carnage Black White & Blood #1

Let’s be honest Jake and I were in on this just because carnagesymbiotes. That said we love these style books going back to the wolverine one. This one features a killer team of talent on short easy to jump into stories. Can’t wait. g in

2. Amazing Spider-Man #62

Jake and I are fresh off some key ASM pickups for our collection so Spidey is riding high on our list. This issues sees the new costume and Spidey tangling with Kingpin. We get the feeling like something big could be coming for our favorite web slinger and we’re excited.

3. Teen Titans Academy #1

Jake and I usually go out of our way to avoid picking the same books as our pals here but we can’t help it in this case. If you follow our picks you know strange academy is a current favorite. You can’t ignore the similar setup here. This has potential to be so much fun in light of the new tone and direction DC is taking. This may be the series that hooks Jake on DC.

1. Carnage Black White & Blood #1

Carnage is getting the black white and blood treatment and it looks amazing ! As crazy and dangerous as carnage is, this book showcases just how lethal cletus kasady can be! A plethora of covers to choose from, carnage fans are able to rejoice in seeing their favorite symbiote in all his glory. If you’re a fan of the ongoing wolverine black white and blood, this is a must read!

Teen Titans Academy #1

Hot of the heels of teen Titans future state, we got a glimpse of the upcoming character Red X in the main line dc universe! Now we are finally going to be able to see who is under the mask with this brand new series. Featuring a new Titans team along with our favorite original Titans, the future looks bright for the teen Titans.

3. Detective Comics #1034

I was a big fan of Mariko Tamaki’s dark detective run in future state so i am eager to see what she will do with the Batman in detective comics. Expect the new mayor Nakano to stand his ground against vigilantism in Gotham and to see how Batman operates in a Gotham that does not want the Batman. Featuring a mini story of Damian Wayne, as he deals with separating himself from robin and exploring his league of shadows heritage!
