One of our favorite things to do at the shop is sharing our weekly pull lists and must reads with one another. It’s one of the best ways we’ve been finding new things to read or even reasons to return to old favorites. We thought it
would be fun to start sharing our weekly picks of books we’re most excited about. Our hope is that in sharing our excitement you might discover something new to add to your list. Check back weekly on Tuesday evenings for lists from
John, Chandler and Jason & Jake. Each has a different background and perspective to share.
Spoiler alert: Also check back in the weeks to come for a chance to win some cool prizes including some of the books we’ll feature on our lists.

1. Miles Morales Spider-Man #25
The beginning of the HUGE story line–The Clone Saga. Comic book fans of all stripes are going to want to be on board for this one due to the guaranteed big impact it’s going to have on Miles. The solicit promises this story will have
a bigger impact on Miles than the original one had on Peter.
2. Shadecraft #2
As I said when the first issue came out, I loved Skyward when that was coming out. The first issue of this new series set up the world very well, promising the main character will have many obstacles on her path to find her place in the world. The artwork in issue one accentuated the story perfectly, bringing those shadows to life in an ominous way. I’m really looking forward to reading issue #2.
3. Robin #1
Damien continues his attempt to find his place in the DCU–this time by entering the League of Lazarus tournament to prove he is the best fighter around. What really sold this one for me was some interviews that promised the return of an old favorite who hasn’t been around for quite some time. I won’t spoil who that is here, but it’s a character I’m interested to see taken in a new direction.
1. Robin #1
Don’t let the title fool you, Damien is done with Bat-family. Striking out on his own and about to take on the League of Lazarus tournament. This was teased in a back up story on the main Batman titles and I’m very excited for it.
Joshua Williamson is a superstar writer and have high hopes for his take on Damien.

2. Shadecraft #2
From the team that brought us Skyward comes this new series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first issue. Lee Garbett does an amazing job of drawing these amazing fantasy worlds and Joe Henderson follows along with deeply touching moments that keep the book grounded and give you that emotional connection to the characters. I’m excited for this series and hope it has a longer run than Skyward.
3. Teen Titans Academy #2
The first issue was great. A lot of characters that you already love and tons of new characters with a lot of possibilities to them. I think Skottie Young has done a good job filling the void that Gotham Academy left behind, (if you haven’t read Strange Academy it’s pretty good!), but it’s nice to see DC back in the spotlight in the school setting with awesome super powered teachers.
1.Beta Ray Bill #2
Issue 1 surprised Jake and I with how much we enjoyed this book. We enjoyed learning more about Beta Ray Bill and more of what we consider a pretty sad backstory. We also got to learn why his hammer was so important to him and what its loss really means. This issue he goes looking for Odin and a way to get his full powers back. Looking forward to another fun issue and we’re rooting for Beta Ray!
2. Teen Titans Academy #2
I knew Jake would like this series I was skeptical. On the surface it felt like a quick response to Strange Academy by DC. While there are valid comparisons to be made here so far this series has been as much about the Titans adapting to their new teaching roles as it has about the students. I’m enjoying that aspect and it sets it apart. Jake and I are both looking forward to this one and have high hopes.
3. Silk #2
The. first issue was great fun and a solid introduction to Silk for those not familiar with the character. I can see this becoming a favorite fatherson read for us very quickly. So far its all the fun of classic spider without having to struggle to keep up like we do with the main spider-man title. Highly recommend this series so far for a fun read.
1. Detective Comics #1035
We’re being introduced to a new character in the form of Mr. Worth! A man who’s life has directly been destroyed by the Joker war and his vengeance is ready to be taken out on Batman. This issue will also see the return of Huntress in the back up mini story as she makes presence known once again in Gotham.
3. Robin #1
Damian Wayne is on a mission to prove to himself that he is more than just Batman’s son and more than just the grandson of the demon. The best place to demonstrate his skills is in the tournament of Lazarus where we will see a familiar
face return to The mainline DC universe !
