1. Geiger #1
The Image title brought to you by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Set years after a nuclear war has ravaged Earth, this sounds like an action adventure book by way of Mad Max. Sign me up.
2. The Silver Coin #1
A different writer takes on each issue of this horror anthology. First up is Chip Zdarsky, the man who is constantly growing in stature within the industry. Each issue revolves around a mysterious silver coin that alters the fate of those who find it. A band is the first victim.
3. Green Lantern #1
John Stewart and Teen Lantern take center stage along with the United Planets and the Guardians of the Universe. The writer has said he plans to shift the focus from Hal Jordan and that’s enough to get me on board.
1. Geiger #1
I have been so excited for this book since it was first announced. Geoff John’s has been away from independents for 20 years and this sounds like a triumphant return. He is teamed up with superstars Gary Frank and Brad Anderson. This
book takes place in the distant future after a nuclear war. The world is a pretty messed up place and doesn’t have many heroes but there is one man who is taking a stand against the chaos. There are many different names people call
him but his name is Geiger. This is something special, you do not want to miss this book!
2. Seven Secrets #7
After a brief hiatus one of my favorite new books is back! Another case has been opened and there are not many in the order who survived the attack. Caspar and the remaining few have escaped to a different dimension but are they truly
safe? I will enjoy diving back into Tom Taylor’s awesome world of Seven Secrets.
3. The Silver Coin #1
This is a new horror anthology series by Image. I typically try to stay away from horror but there are way too many amazing writers to not read this series. It starts off with one of my favorites, Chip Zdarsky. This story focuses on a failed rock band whose fortune changes when they find the silver coin. However, they soon find out that fame comes with a price and the silver coin takes much more than it gives. Keep an eye out for this series in the coming months!
1. King in Black #5
King in Black wraps up a wild ride this week. This has been Jake’s first real event since getting in collecting comics and it’s been a constant father son favorite read. With KIB and Venom both wrapping up soon we’re going to savor every last bit of time KatesStegman spends on these characters. I think Jake and I have made some great memories collecting and reading this one together.
2. Venom #34
Jake and I are fresh off some key ASM pickups for our collection so Spidey is riding high on our list. This issues sees the new costume and Spidey tangling with Kingpin. We get the feeling like something big could be coming for our favorite web slinger and we’re excited.
3. Seven Secrets #7
Another one of our favorite series is back on our list this week. This book has been a tremendous amount of fun from the start. This book just feels refreshing, everything from the art, the world building and a likeable young protagonist. This issue kicks off a second arc and could be a good jumping on point. If memory serves the first trade with issues 1-6 drops next month. There have also been multiple printings throughout so it’s not too hard to go back and pick up those first 6 in singles. Still highly recommend this one.
1. Batman #107
The threat level in Gotham continues to rise with Batman 107. Scarecrow has become a major threat to Gotham as he begins his crusade to drown it in fear. Scarecrow has been the next Batman villain being hinted by Tynion to be the next crime lord and I’m excited to see this arc continue
2. The Next Batman Second Son #1
Future state was pretty rocky for me but I felt that the next Batman was one of the few stories that did capture my attention and I love that we’re going to be able to learn more about how Tim Fox became the Dark Knight. This book is also going to be following closely to Luke Fox aka batwing. This is the next Batman’s version of year one and This will be a story to look out for.
3. King in Black #5
Everything that Donny Cates has been building up to for 4 years. the final installment into his spectacular king in black story and this issue will change venom for years to come. This has been an amazing story that has left me on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait to see what Cates and Stegman will finish off with. Look out for Venom this week as well!
