One of our favorite things to do at the shop is sharing our weekly pull lists and must reads with one another. It’s one of the best ways we’ve been finding new things to read or even reasons to return to old favorites. We thought it would be fun to start sharing our weekly picks of books we’re most excited about. Our hope is that in sharing our excitement you might discover something new to add to your list. Check back weekly on Tuesday evenings for lists from John, Chandler and Jason & Jake. Each has a different background and perspective to share.

Spoiler alert: Also check back in the weeks to come for a chance to win some cool prizes including some of the books we’ll feature on our lists.

1. Milestone Returns #0

The Milestone universe was introduced early in my comic collecting days with characters and teams like Icon, Blood Syndicate and most importantly Static. After years of promises, DC finally gets the group back together for a relaunch. I’m excited to see what new stories the crew has in store.

2. Made in Korea #1

Biological birth is no longer an option in the world presented in this series. Instead, parents order their children from a catalog and then raise the AI as it ages. What is the importance of family in that type of society? I love a good sci-fi story so I’m on-board for this six issue miniseries.

3. Stargirl Spring Break Special #1

While many people’s love of Geoff Johns was formed and sealed with Green Lantern Rebirth and Flash Rebirth, for me JSA and Stars and STRIPE were what proved his writing worth. Based on his late sister, Courtney Whitmore proved to be a character that was heroic and carried on the Golden Age mantle while making her own way in the world. If Johns brings half the heart and emotion he did from the original series to this one shot, readers are in for a treat.

1. Milestone Returns: Infinite Edition #0

Milestone comics is back! DC has finally come to their senses and resurrected these amazing characters. I love all of these amazing heroes but Static will always have a special place in my heart because if the Saturday morning cartoon. Representation in comics has always been an issue and Milestone comics did everything the could back in the day to kick that door wide open. I am excited to get read about these characters again and from some of the original creators.

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin #3

Its finally here. Eastman’s epic finale to this futurescape of Last Ronin. I’m not even going to hype this one up, it speaks for itself.

3. Ascender #15

After a 7 month hiatus Ascender is finally back! I cannot wait to read the last half of this epic tale that Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen have been telling ever since Descender #1. If you love sci-fi and fantasy, gorgeous artwork, and amazing heartfelt story telling do yourself a favor, pick up the trades to Descender and then get yourself caught up on this sequel series Ascender. I promise you it is worth your time.

1.Beta Ray Bill #3

This series has been a fun surprise. It wasted no time in jumping into the action and setting Beta Ray Bill on an epic quest to get his weapon back and maybe his life too. Great read highly recommended.

2. Teen Titans Academy #3

DC has been hitting it out of the park with Infinite Frontier so far and DC titles have been making our list now more than ever. This has been a fun read with a young cast of characters while also showing us a different side of the Titans. Throw in the mystery of the Red X as well and this is one solid series.

3. Repitl #1

Not many #1 issues this week, this being one of the two that caught our eye. We think has the potential to be a fun father son read for the next few months. HumbertoReptil has stepped back from crime fighting a bit thanks to Kamala’s law and family issues until he meets a mysterious strangers that changes everything.

1. Last Ronin #3

The last turtle continues his crusade to finish off the foot clan to honor the fallen brothers but the new head of the clan is not ready to call it quits yet. Old faces will appear to aid the fallen turtle as he tries to save new York once again.

2.The other history of the DC universe #4

John Ridley has been doing an amazing job highlighting the diversity and importance of different characters that have been a part of the dc world. This issue talks about Renee Montoya and her life as a queer Latina women. This is a powerful issue.

3.Detective Comics #1036

Batman must come face to face with the Huntress as she is on the hunt for the None other than Bruce Wayne. Can Batman allow the vengeance of The Huntress to plague Gotham as he tries to solve the murder of one of Gotham’s elite?
