Each and every week, Diamond, UCS and Lunar allow comic shops to adjust their orders upward or downward in order to ensure profitability and that you the comic fans will have the books you want in your pull boxes each and every Wednesday. To assist you in that, we make public as much information as possible so you can make informed decisions about where to put your hard earned dollars.
Let’s start with the DC books on this week’s FOC. You have until Sunday to add any of the books to ensure they are in your pullbox.
These books are set for release on December 22nd.
ACTION COMICS #1028 CVR A JOHN ROMITA JR & KLAUS JANSON
REASON: It’s the end of an era for the DCU. Throughout January and February Future State will be taking place. There are lots of rumors about what’s to follow.
BATMAN SUPERMAN #15 CVR B TRAVIS CHAREST VAR
REASON: An awesome cover by Travis Charest. There are few Superman/Batman covers where each character feels equally served. This one is one of those few.
DARK NIGHTS DEATH METAL #7 (OF 7) CVR A GREG CAPULLO FOIL EMBOSSED
REASON: The solicit above says it all. This is leading into the next phase of the DC Universe. If you’re reading DC comics, this is a must buy.
DARK NIGHTS DEATH METAL THE LAST 52 WAR OF THE MULTIVERSES #1 (ONE SHOT) CVR A DAN MORA
REASON: The lead-in to the end of the universe and the beginning of another. What will the next phase of the DCU look like? We begin to get those answers in this book.
DARK NIGHTS DEATH METAL THE SECRET ORIGIN #1 (ONE SHOT) CVR A IVAN REIS & JOE PRADO
REASON: The same goes for this tie-in. DC is putting together an epic battle that will be the birth of a new era.
DETECTIVE COMICS #1033 CVR B LEE BERMEJO CARD STOCK VAR
REASON: A great cover matches the great story that has been gathering momentum in the Detective Comics series. If you aren’t reading, you’re missing out.
INVISIBLE MEN TRAILBLAZING BLACK ARTISTS OF COMIC BOOKS HC
REASON: Overlooked minority contributors to the comic industry are highlighted and given the respect denied in previous years. The history of comics is as important as the stories we read.
POST AMERICANA #1 (OF 6) CVR A SKROCE (MR)
REASON: Comic book super artist brings what sounds to be a great new book to the shelves. As a fan of his work, we are looking forward to this one.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #55 LR
REASON: Look at that cover. We believe this will go down as an all-time classic, on par with Detective 880. It just has an iconic look. With the black cover, it will also be a difficult one to get a 9.8 or better on.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #55 RON LIM LEGO VAR LR
REASON: Not as iconic as the one above, but just a fun cover. John may be a little biased due to his love of Lego.
REASON: If this story delivers what is promised–a new Phoenix host–then it will have a large impact on the Marvel Universe and possibly the cinematic universe as well. The story line begins here.
CAPTAIN MARVEL #23 2ND PTG VAR
REASON: A second print of an issue that contains a first appearance.
GHOST RIDER RETURN OF VENGEANCE #1
REASON: The beginning of a new series. Ghost Rider is a character that has a huge cult following.
IMMORTAL HULK #42 BENNETT HOMAGE VAR
REASON: Two great covers.
KING IN BLACK IRON MAN DOOM #1
REASON: A new number one that ties into the biggest story line of the year. Donny Cates has been building to this for years and we are now reaping the payoff.
STRANGE ACADEMY GN TP FIRST CLASS
REASON: Normally we only spotlight original graphic novels, not collected editions, but this is a book that continues to grow in popularity. Pick it up when it comes out and thank us later.
EXPANSE #1 (OF 4) CVR A FORBES
REASON: A new number one. Great looking cover. Based on the Amazon series.
BLADE RUNNER 2029 #1 CVR A MOMOKO
REASON: A new number one. A cover by fan favorite Peach Momoko.
