With that preamble out of the way, let’s get to the topics that the dynamic duo will be musing on this week once the video drops on Friday April 9th…..

TOPIC #1: HOLDING THE LINE?!?

hot topics comics industry dc comics price cover
DC’s solicits look to be raising the price of their books by a dollar. What are our thoughts and concerns with that looking to be the case?

UPDATE: DC announced that the solicits were a typo and that they are holding the prices at their current levels with the exception of the card stock B covers.

TOPIC #2: I’D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR

dollar bin books graded books 9.8 cgc cbcs
Around the comic industry and on Facebook groups, the hot topics include asking why dollar books from the 90s sell for $150+ in 9.8 condition. Is this crazy?

TOPIC #3: YOU’VE CHANGED!

venom todd mcfarlane hot topics comics industry image villain hero anti-hero
Todd McFarlane has stated marquee villains are difficult to create and disagrees with Marvel’s decision to convert everyone’s favorite symbiote Venom into a hero. Does this argument have merit or is Todd being unreasonable in his adamant opinion?

BIG TOPIC: IT’S NOT YOU….

marvel comics diamond distribution penguin random house
Last year DC comics forged a partnership with Lunar and UCS after departing their long-standing contract with Diamond. Marvel announced they, too, are taking their wares elsewhere, specifically to Penguin Random House. How does this impact the market?

Rapid Topic) Almost 30 years ago, a group of artists forged out on their own to form Image Comics. If this were to happen today, which artists would be necessary to have the same sort of success Image has enjoyed?

We wanted to ask our viewers and our readers: which of today’s artists would you want if you were attempting to catch that same lightning in a bottle that Image did almost 30 years ago? Answer on Facebook or the YouTube video when it is posted on Friday.

Of course, sign up for our newsletter as well so you stay up to date on the hot topics not just around Brainstorm Comics and Gaming, but also around the comics industry.
